Description

A refreshing and flavorful Turmeric Iced Latte made with a blend of warming spices, maple syrup, and your choice of milk. This easy-to-make iced beverage combines anti-inflammatory turmeric and aromatic spices to create a soothing, naturally sweetened drink perfect for a quick energizing treat or relaxing afternoon refreshment.

Ingredients

Scale

Liquids

  • 2-3 cups (480-720 ml) milk of choice (whole, almond, oat, or other preferred variety)
  • 3 tablespoons (45 ml) maple syrup
  • ¼ teaspoon (1.25 ml) vanilla extract

Spices

  • 1 ½ teaspoons (4.5 g) ground turmeric
  • ¼ teaspoon (0.5 g) ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon (0.5 g) ground ginger
  • 1 pinch ground black pepper
  • 1 pinch ground cardamom (optional but recommended)

Other

  • Ice, as needed for chilling and serving

Instructions

  1. Mix Ingredients: Add all the ingredients except the ice into a cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds to thoroughly blend the milk, maple syrup, turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, black pepper, cardamom, and vanilla. This ensures the spices are evenly distributed and the flavors are melded together for a smooth and consistent latte.
  2. Chill with Ice: Add ice to the shaker to quickly chill the mixture without diluting its flavor. Shake again briefly with the ice to evenly cool the latte and blend the ingredients further, preparing it for serving.
  3. Strain the Latte: Strain the shaken turmeric latte mixture into serving glasses already filled with fresh ice. Straining removes any clumps of spices, resulting in a smooth, textured drink free from grittiness.
  4. Serve Immediately: Serve the turmeric iced latte right away to maintain even suspension of the spices. Drinking promptly prevents the spices from settling at the bottom, preserving both the flavor balance and the appealing appearance of the beverage.

Notes

  • You can use any milk variety you prefer, including dairy or plant-based milks like almond, oat, or soy.
  • Adjust the sweetness by altering the amount of maple syrup according to your taste.
  • Ground black pepper enhances the absorption of turmeric’s active compounds, making it a key ingredient to include.
  • For a spicier kick, increase the amount of ground ginger or add a dash of cayenne pepper.
  • This recipe is best enjoyed fresh, as the flavors and spice suspension are optimal immediately after preparation.
