Description

Sausage Gravy Crescent Roll Breakfast Pizza is a delicious and hearty morning treat that combines a flaky crescent roll crust with savory sausage gravy and melted cheese. Perfect for feeding a crowd, this dish offers a comforting twist on traditional breakfast flavors in a convenient pizza form.

Ingredients

Scale

Crescent Roll Crust

  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough

Sausage Gravy

  • 0.5 pound ground breakfast sausage
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cup whole milk
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper

Toppings

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 0.5 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Crust: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or sheet pan. Unroll the crescent roll dough and press it into the baking dish, making sure to seal the seams well. Bake the crust for 8 minutes or until it’s lightly golden.
  2. Cook Sausage: While the crust is baking, heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the ground breakfast sausage until browned and crumbled. Do not drain the grease, as it will be used to make the gravy.
  3. Make Sausage Gravy: Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage and stir well. Cook for about 1 minute to eliminate the raw flour taste. Gradually whisk in the whole milk, stirring continuously until the gravy thickens, which will take about 3 to 5 minutes. Season with black pepper to taste.
  4. Assemble Pizza: Spread the sausage gravy evenly over the pre-baked crescent roll crust. Then sprinkle the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses evenly over the sausage gravy layer.
  5. Bake Pizza: Return the assembled pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 8 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven and garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired. Let it cool slightly before slicing into 12 squares. Serve warm for a satisfying breakfast treat.

Notes

  • You can substitute breakfast sausage with spicy Italian sausage for a different flavor.
  • Use low-fat milk or a milk alternative to reduce calories if preferred.
  • To make it extra cheesy, add more cheese or try different cheese blends.
  • Ensure to seal the crescent roll seams tightly to prevent gravy from leaking during baking.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
