Description

These Oreo Rice Krispie Treats combine the classic crispy, chewy texture of traditional rice krispie treats with the rich flavor of Oreo cookies, creating a delightful dessert bar that’s easy to make and perfect for parties or an indulgent snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 20 oz mini marshmallows
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 7 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 2 cups mini marshmallows
  • â…” cup Oreo cookie crumbs (about 6 Oreo cookies)
  • 14 Oreo cookies (roughly chopped)
  • 8 Oreo cookies (broken into pieces for the top of the bars)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Baking Pan: Prepare a 9×13 baking pan by spraying it with nonstick cooking spray and lining it with parchment paper. Extend the parchment paper up the sides to easily lift out the treats later.
  2. Melt Butter and Marshmallows: In a large saucepan over medium-low heat on the stovetop, melt the unsalted butter. Add 20 ounces of mini marshmallows and stir consistently until fully melted and smooth. Remove from heat once melted.
  3. Mix in Flavorings and Mix-ins: Stir in the vanilla extract, salt, and Oreo cookie crumbs into the melted marshmallow mixture. Then fold in the Rice Krispies cereal, additional 2 cups of mini marshmallows, and roughly chopped Oreo cookies ensuring everything is well coated.
  4. Transfer and Press Mixture: Pour the mixture into the prepared pan. Moisten your hands with water to prevent sticking, then gently press the mixture evenly into the pan, creating a compact layer. Press the broken Oreo cookie pieces into the top for decoration and extra crunch.
  5. Set and Serve: Allow the treats to set at room temperature in the pan for about 1 hour. Once set, lift the treats out using the parchment paper and cut into 12 squares to serve.

Notes

  • Use moist hands to press the mixture to avoid sticking.
  • You can substitute regular marshmallows for mini marshmallows if needed.
  • For firmer treats, refrigerate after pressing before cutting.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • Make sure to fully melt the marshmallows for a smooth coating.
