Description

These Light and Fluffy Garlic Butter Dinner Rolls are perfectly soft, buttery, and infused with fresh garlic and parsley. Made from scratch with a simple yeast dough, these rolls are ideal for family dinners, holidays, or any occasion where warm, homemade bread is desired. The rolls are baked to a golden brown and brushed with a flavorful garlic butter for an irresistible finish.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough Ingredients

  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast (1 packet)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup warm milk (110°F or 43°C)
  • 1/4 cup warm water (110°F or 43°C)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

Garlic Butter Topping

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm milk, warm water, and sugar. Sprinkle the instant yeast on top and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy, indicating active yeast.
  2. Prepare Dough: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Add the frothy yeast mixture, the egg, and melted butter. Stir until a rough dough forms.
  3. Knead Dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook and knead for 5-6 minutes.
  4. First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and set it in a warm place to rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Shape Rolls: Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 12-16 equal pieces. Shape each portion into a smooth ball and arrange them evenly in a greased or parchment-lined baking dish.
  6. Second Rise: Cover the shaped rolls with a towel and let them rise for 30-40 minutes until puffed and nearly doubled.
  7. Bake: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 15-18 minutes until golden brown on top.
  8. Prepare Garlic Butter: While the rolls bake, mix melted butter with minced garlic and fresh parsley.
  9. Finish and Serve: Once the rolls are hot out of the oven, brush them generously with the garlic butter. Serve warm for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Ensure liquids are warm but not hot to avoid killing the yeast.
  • You can substitute fresh parsley with dried parsley if fresh is unavailable.
  • For a softer crust, cover the rolls with foil during the last 5 minutes of baking.
  • These rolls can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or frozen for longer storage.
  • Reheat rolls in the oven wrapped in foil to maintain softness.
