Description

A wholesome and delicious Healthy Breakfast Apple Crumble featuring sautéed cinnamon-spiced apples topped with a crunchy oat and pecan crumble, baked to golden perfection. This nutritious recipe makes a perfect start to your day with natural sweetness and wholesome ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale

Fruit Filling

  • 6 sweet apples, chopped into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tsp coconut oil

Crumble Topping

  • 2/3 cup oats
  • 2/3 cup pecans
  • 2 tsp coconut oil
  • 2 tsp honey
  • Splash of water

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) to prepare for baking the apple crumble.
  2. Sauté Apples: In a sauté pan, combine the chopped apples with cinnamon, a pinch of salt, and 2 teaspoons of coconut oil. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the apples are slightly softened and infused with cinnamon flavor.
  3. Make Crumble Mixture: Use a food processor to combine oats, pecans, the remaining 2 teaspoons of coconut oil, honey, and a splash of water. Pulse until the mixture becomes crumbly but not too fine.
  4. Assemble Crumble: Grease a baking pan lightly. Spread the sautéed apple mixture evenly on the bottom, then sprinkle the crumble mixture evenly on top.
  5. Bake: Place the assembled dish in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, until the topping is golden brown and crisp.

Notes

  • Choose sweet varieties of apples like Fuji or Gala for natural sweetness.
  • You can substitute pecans with walnuts or almonds based on preference.
  • Adjust honey quantity according to desired sweetness or omit for a lower sugar version.
  • Serve warm with a dollop of yogurt or plant-based cream for extra richness.
  • Leftovers can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated before serving.
