Description

These Grinch Oreo Truffles are a festive and delicious holiday treat featuring crushed Oreo cookies mixed with cream cheese, dipped in vibrant green candy melts, and decorated with colorful sprinkles and white chocolate drizzle for a fun and easy-to-make Christmas dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Oreo Mixture

  • 1 package Oreo cookies (about 15-20 cookies)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened

Coating and Decoration

  • Green candy melts
  • White chocolate chips or Wilton candy melts for decorating
  • Red and green sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Crush the Oreos: Crush the Oreo cookies into fine crumbs using either a food processor or by placing them in a zip-top bag and smashing them with a rolling pin until finely ground.
  2. Mix with cream cheese: Combine the Oreo crumbs with the softened cream cheese in a mixing bowl and mix until the mixture is well blended and uniform in texture.
  3. Form balls and chill: Roll the mixture into approximately 1-inch diameter balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to firm up.
  4. Melt green candy melts: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the green candy melts by heating in 30-second increments, stirring in between, until the chocolate is smooth and fully melted.
  5. Dip truffles: Dip each chilled truffle ball into the melted green candy melts, ensuring it is fully coated, then place it back on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. Decorate: Before the coating sets, sprinkle red and green sprinkles on top and optionally drizzle melted white chocolate over the truffles for added decoration.
  7. Set truffles: Allow the coated truffles to set at room temperature or refrigerate until the chocolate coating is firm and the truffles are ready to serve.

Notes

  • Make sure the cream cheese is softened to ensure easy mixing.
  • If you don’t have a food processor, use a zip-top bag and a rolling pin to crush the Oreos manually.
  • The chilling step is crucial to help the truffles hold their shape during dipping.
  • Store leftover truffles in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to one week.
  • For a festive touch, consider using different colored candy melts or holiday-themed sprinkles.
