Scale
Main Ingredients
- 500 g ground chicken
- ½ cup crumbled feta cheese
- ¼ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 small onion, finely grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
- Zest of 1 lemon
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- Salt and black pepper to taste
For Cooking
- 2 tbsp olive oil, for cooking
Optional Garnishes
- Lemon wedges
- Fresh herbs
- Greek yogurt or tzatziki
Instructions
- Combine ingredients: In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, crumbled feta cheese, breadcrumbs, grated onion, minced garlic, chopped parsley, chopped dill, lemon zest, beaten egg, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until all ingredients are just incorporated.
- Form patties: Divide the mixture and shape into 8 evenly sized patties, making sure they hold together well but are not packed too tightly to keep them juicy.
- Heat skillet: Preheat a large skillet over medium heat and add olive oil, allowing it to warm evenly for a minute.
- Cook patties: Place the patties in the hot skillet and cook for 5 to 6 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Serve and garnish: Transfer the cooked patties to a serving plate. Garnish with lemon wedges and fresh herbs. Serve warm with Greek yogurt or tzatziki on the side for added creaminess and zest.
Notes
- For crispier patties, you can chill them for 15 minutes before cooking.
- Make sure not to overmix the chicken and other ingredients to avoid dense patties.
- Use fresh herbs for optimal flavor, but dried herbs can be substituted if necessary—use half the amount.
- These patties can also be baked in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for 15-18 minutes as an alternative cooking method.
- Adjust seasoning at the end if needed, as feta cheese adds a salty flavor.
