Ingredients
Scale
Ramen
- 2 packs ramen noodles
Buldak Sauce
- 2 tablespoons gochujang
- 1 tablespoon gochugaru
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 cup water
Garnishes
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
Optional Toppings
- 50 grams shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 pieces boiled eggs
Instructions
- Boil Water and Cook Noodles: Bring 3 cups of water to a rolling boil in a medium pot. Add ramen noodles and cook them according to package instructions until just tender, usually about 3-4 minutes.
- Prepare Buldak Sauce: While the noodles cook, combine gochujang, gochugaru, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, sugar, and 1/2 cup water in a small bowl. Stir well to create a spicy and flavorful buldak sauce.
- Drain Noodles: Drain the ramen noodles, but leave approximately 2 tablespoons of cooking water in the pot to keep some starch and moisture.
- Mix Noodles and Sauce: Return the pot with noodles to low heat. Pour in the buldak sauce and stir thoroughly to evenly coat the noodles with the spicy sauce.
- Add Cheese (Optional): If using mozzarella, sprinkle it evenly over the noodles in the pot. Cover with a lid and let it melt for 1 to 2 minutes over low heat for a creamy texture.
- Serve and Garnish: Transfer the spicy buldak ramen to serving bowls. Top with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds. Garnish with boiled eggs if desired to add extra protein and richness.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of gochujang and gochugaru to control the heat level according to your preference.
- Leaving a little noodle cooking water helps the sauce cling better to the noodles and enhances the silky texture.
- For a vegan version, omit the mozzarella cheese and boiled eggs or substitute with vegan cheese and tofu slices.
- Serve immediately for best texture and flavor, as noodles can become soggy if left too long.
