Description

This Crab & Shrimp Stuffed Salmon recipe combines tender salmon fillets with a rich and flavorful seafood stuffing made from crab meat, shrimp, cream cheese, and fresh herbs. Perfectly seared and baked to perfection, this dish is an impressive yet easy-to-make seafood entrée that serves four.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon Fillets

  • 4 salmon fillets (6 oz each), skin removed

Stuffing

  • 1/2 cup cooked crab meat, chopped
  • 1/2 cup cooked shrimp, chopped
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Cooking

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the stuffed salmon.
  2. Prepare Salmon Fillets: Using a sharp knife, carefully cut a pocket into the side of each salmon fillet, ensuring you don’t cut all the way through to hold the stuffing securely.
  3. Make Stuffing Mixture: In a medium bowl, combine chopped crab meat, chopped shrimp, softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, chopped parsley, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well blended and creamy.
  4. Stuff the Salmon: Generously fill each salmon fillet pocket with the crab and shrimp mixture. Use toothpicks if needed to secure the opening and keep the stuffing inside during cooking.
  5. Sear the Salmon: Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the stuffed salmon fillets for 2-3 minutes on each side until they develop a golden brown crust.
  6. Bake the Salmon: Transfer the skillet directly to the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon is thoroughly cooked and flakes easily with a fork.
  7. Rest and Serve: Remove the salmon from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving warm with your favorite side dishes.

Notes

  • Ensure not to cut through the salmon fillet completely to prevent the stuffing from spilling out while cooking.
  • Using an oven-safe skillet allows you to sear and bake in one pan, improving flavor and reducing cleanup.
  • Feel free to garnish with additional fresh parsley or lemon wedges for extra brightness at serving.
  • This dish pairs beautifully with steamed vegetables, rice, or a fresh green salad.
  • To save time, use pre-cooked crab meat and shrimp from your local seafood market or grocery store.
