Description

A simple and comforting Buttered Noodles recipe featuring tender egg noodles tossed in garlic butter and parmesan cheese, finished with fresh parsley and black pepper for a flavorful and quick meal.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Noodles

  • 8 ounces egg noodles

For the Sauce

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, or more to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the Noodles: Bring a medium pot of water to a rolling boil. Cook the egg noodles according to the package directions until al dente. Reserve 1/4 cup of the pasta cooking water, then drain the noodles and set them aside.
  2. Prepare the Garlic Butter Sauce: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for one minute until fragrant but not browned. Stir in the grated parmesan cheese along with 2 tablespoons of the reserved pasta water. Stir continuously until the cheese melts completely, forming a smooth sauce.
  3. Toss Noodles with Sauce: Add the cooked egg noodles, chopped fresh parsley, and black pepper to the skillet. Toss gently to coat the noodles evenly with the garlic butter parmesan sauce. If the noodles seem dry, add more of the reserved pasta water a little at a time until desired consistency is reached.

Notes

  • Reserve some pasta water before draining noodles as it helps loosen and blend the sauce.
  • Use freshly grated parmesan for best flavor and smooth melting.
  • Adjust garlic quantity based on your preference for a milder or stronger garlic taste.
  • Fresh parsley adds brightness but can be substituted with dried parsley if needed.
  • This dish pairs excellently with grilled chicken or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
