Ingredients
Scale
Meat Mixture
- 1 pound ground beef (80/20)
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Vegetables
- 1 large red onion, cut into chunks
- 2 bell peppers (any color), cut into chunks
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes
Other
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat Grill: Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes beforehand to prevent burning.
- Prepare Meat Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined, then shape the mixture into small, flattened mini patties suitable for skewering.
- Oil Grill Grates: Lightly brush or spray the grill grates or pan with oil to prevent sticking and aid in cooking.
- Assemble Skewers: Thread the skewers alternately with the prepared mini burger patties, chunks of red onion, bell pepper pieces, and cherry tomatoes to create colorful and balanced kebabs.
- Grill Kebabs: Place the skewers on the grill and cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side, turning carefully, until the beef is cooked through to a safe temperature and vegetables show nice char marks.
- Finish with Olive Oil: During the last minute of grilling, brush the assembled kebabs with olive oil or your favorite glaze to add moisture and richness.
- Serve: Remove from the grill and serve hot. These kebabs pair wonderfully with dipping sauces such as ketchup, mustard, or tzatziki, or can be wrapped in flatbread for a delicious handheld meal.
Notes
- Soaking wooden skewers in water before grilling helps prevent them from burning.
- For spicier kebabs, consider adding chili powder or cayenne pepper to the meat mixture.
- These kebabs can also be cooked under a broiler or on a grill pan indoors if a grill is not available.
- Ensure the beef is cooked to an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) for food safety.
- Leftover kebabs can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and reheated gently.
